Bitcoin Beach Sees Record Low Transactions Amidst El Salvador's Bullish Stance

El Salvador's Bitcoin Beach has seen a significant decline in BTC transactions. According to Jon Atack, a Bitcoin core contributor, businesses in El Salvador are recording fewer crypto transactions than ever before, with some cities experiencing their lowest numbers in four years.

In the popular tourist destination of El Zonte, known as Bitcoin Beach, a restaurant reported only one transaction in August, down from previous volumes. Merchants can still accept payments, but customers seem to have lost interest in making BTC transactions.

Atack attributed this decline to several factors, including the initial institutional slump that saw Bitcoin's price drop from an all-time high above $125k to $60k this year. Smaller holders had to restructure their portfolios, and now most holders in El Salvador prefer to hold onto their assets rather than sell them.

Despite the decline, users still believe in the use case of BTC as a daily trading currency. The country remains bullish towards Bitcoin, having adopted it as legal tender in 2021 and continuing to add to its reserves.
