Bitcoin Blasts Past $84k, But Overheating Momentum Raises Red Flags
Bitcoin has surged past $84,000, reaching an all-time high of $84,549 as of September 21st at 10:20 AM GMT / 6:20 AM EDT. The cryptocurrency is up 5.28% in the last hour.
The market is strongly bullish across multiple time frames, but short-term momentum has become overheated. Technical analysis suggests that Bitcoin's next resistance zone lies between $85,162 and $85,511, while its first meaningful support cluster is at $83,678-$83,735.
Experts warn that a pullback below $83,700 could signal cooling momentum, while a daily move below $80,400 would significantly weaken the breakout narrative. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) for both the 1-hour and daily charts indicates overbought conditions, with the 1-hour RSI reading at 82.19 and the daily RSI at 70.94.
The bulls have a clear path to $86,243 and potentially $90,582 if Bitcoin can hold above $85,500. However, failure near this level could lead to a fast pullback towards $83,700 or $82,900 as overbought markets often retrace before continuing.
