Bitcoin Bounces Off Bottom, Targets $86K Price Ceiling

Bitcoin has seen a 23% gain over the past 21 sessions while equities have remained flat, but it's still down 10% on the year. Core inflation has fallen to a two-year low of 2.5%, and inflation expectations sit at 3.6%, creating a wide gap between what households expect and what data prints. This gap is the widest in three years.

The ceiling for Bitcoin's price is estimated to be between $83K and $86K by long-term holder cost basis, the liquidation map, and the ETF break-even. Spot prices have stopped 1.5% short of this range, and selling into the range high has slowed significantly. Long-term holders are sitting out this leg, and recent buyers are dominating sales.

The bond market is still restrictive, with US 10-Year Treasury yields at a two-year high, but measured inflation data does not support tighter policy. The gap between core inflation and inflation expectations will be tested in the coming weeks with the release of August CPI on September 11, 2026, and the FOMC decision on September 16, 2026.
