Bitcoin's price has broken out of its six-week-long trading range, reaching $79,500 after President Donald Trump's push for crypto-friendly legislation and a move by the U.S. Treasury.

The break above $66,000 was fueled by Trump hosting industry leaders at the White House on August 19, where he urged Congress to pass a 'fair version' of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.

The bill aims to clarify which crypto tokens are securities and commodities, but has stalled in the Senate due to ethics concerns.

Meanwhile, the CFTC has been advancing crypto-friendly rules on its own, and Trump hinted at regulating Hyperliquid, a decentralized exchange known for 'perpetual futures' trading.
