Bitcoin Breaks $85,000 Barrier as Crypto Market Shows Signs of Life
Bitcoin has broken above $85,000 for the first time since late January, prompting some investors to declare 'crypto spring' is here. The token surged another 5% on Monday, fueled by regulatory optimism and strong demand from both retail and institutional investors.
Regulatory excitement was partly sparked by President Donald Trump's earlier support of the CLARITY Act, which aimed to establish a framework for digital assets. Although the bill failed to pass the Senate last week, the Securities and Exchange Commission authorized limited trading of tokenized shares on some blockchain platforms.
The Commodity and Futures Trading Commission also submitted a new proposal to regulate crypto markets and transactions. 'The implication is that traders have not abandoned the prospect of clearer US rules,' said Alice Liu, head of research at CoinMarketCap.
