Bitcoin Breaks Above 50-Week Moving Average
For the first time in 45 weeks, Bitcoin has closed above its 50-week moving average. This significant trend signal comes after a 29% price increase over the past 35 days.
The moving average itself sits near $78,115, and Bitcoin's weekly close at $81,159 marks a crucial distinction from fleeting intraday moves through it.
Historical precedent suggests that successfully closing above the 50-week average has historically marked the end of bear markets, followed by significant price rallies. In fact, Galaxy Research found that after 11 out of 13 previous weekly moves back above the 50-week average, Bitcoin avoided setting a new low.
However, history does not guarantee outcomes, and historical reclaims have failed. The latest reclaim suggests that the bear-market low may have been set around $60,000, but the key test now is whether Bitcoin can stay above the moving average of approximately $78,115 in the coming weeks.
