Bitcoin Breaks Above 50-Week Moving Average in Bullish Sign
Bitcoin reclaimed its 50-week moving average on Sunday, marking the first time in over 10 months that the benchmark has closed above this level. The move occurred when Bitcoin closed at $81,159 on Coinbase, surpassing its 50-week moving average of $78,788.
According to Galaxy Research's head of firmwide research Alex Thorn, the 50-week moving average acts as a 'bear market ceiling' and has historically been a reliable indicator for confirming bear-market resolution. Thorn noted that in four out of five completed bear markets, the 50-week moving average was first broken upward after the bear-market bottom was established.
Analysts are cautious not to treat this single weekly close as conclusive evidence of a new bull cycle. Bitget's chief analyst Ryan Lee emphasized that buyers still need evidence that the market can hold the level and develop a healthier structure, warning that failures can happen when macro conditions remain difficult.
