Bitcoin Breaks Above Crucial 50-Week Moving Average After 45 Weeks
Bitcoin's (BTC) recent price surge has brought it above its 50-week moving average for the first time in 45 weeks. The metric, which calculates the mean weekly closing price across approximately 12 months, has historically served as a significant resistance level. According to research from Galaxy, 11 out of 13 historical weekly reclaims of this metric did not result in new cycle lows.
The digital asset's strong performance has been evident over the past few weeks, with an impressive rally of approximately 29% over the last 35 days. This recent close above the moving average bolsters the argument that Bitcoin's rebound is gaining traction, as noted by chief analyst Ryan Lee from Bitget.
Market observers are now closely monitoring whether BTC can sustain support above the moving average, currently positioned around $78,000. Multiple traders, including Cryptocurrency trader Craig Cobb and Analyst Ted, are tracking a critical threshold of $83,000, which would eliminate the lower high pattern on Bitcoin's monthly chart.
