Bitcoin Breaks Downtrend with Record Weekly Gain
Bitcoin surged to its strongest weekly percentage gain since 2023 and broke a 10-month downtrend as price approached $79,000.
The asset rose 23.58% last week, adding a record $14,833 in value, with the weekly candle breaking descending resistance extending from the Oct. 2025 record high of $126,195.
Bitcoin reclaimed its 200-day moving average near $69,000 and broke through the $74,000 to $76,000 band, which may now function as support.
Funding reached a 2026 high, but open interest remains below January and May peaks, according to Glassnode Derivatives data.
