Bitcoin Briefly Topples $80K as Crypto Market Sees Surprise Surge
The crypto market has seen a sudden surge despite the Federal Reserve's rate hike and the 10-year Treasury yield approaching 5%. On Friday, Bitcoin jumped from around $76,000 to briefly top $80,000. This rally is not limited to just Bitcoin as U.S.-listed crypto stocks also rose alongside it.
$Strategy (MSTR.US)$ gained more than 10%, $Coinbase (COIN.US)$ nearly 9%, $SharpLink (SBET.US)$ nearly 9%, while $Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR.US)$ and $MARA Holdings (MARA.US)$ rose roughly 8% and 7%, respectively. Other crypto-related names also saw significant gains.
The fresh inflows of money into the market are a key factor in this rally. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded about $159.5 million in net inflows on September 17, following net outflows of roughly $450.3 million and $296.0 million over the previous two sessions.
The SEC's introduction of a five-year Innovation Exemption has also eased regulatory concerns. This exemption allows eligible platforms to facilitate on-chain trading of tokenized stocks under certain conditions. The exemption primarily targets tokenized securities, but it has helped to boost the market.
