Bitcoin briefly touched $88,020 on Christmas Day, experiencing a modest 1.46% gain in the past 24 hours, according to Binance market data.

The cryptocurrency remained within its familiar range between $85,000 and $90,000 throughout December 25, with reduced liquidity as traders stayed away from markets due to the holiday.

A flash crash earlier in the day sent Bitcoin to $24,111 on Binance's BTC/USD1 trading pair for a brief moment before recovering within seconds, an anomaly that appeared isolated to the USD1 stablecoin pair and did not affect other major BTC pairs.

Analysts expect thin trading conditions to persist through December 31 before liquidity normalizes in January, as a record $23.7 billion in Bitcoin options contracts expires on Deribit on December 26, which could amplify volatility when liquidity returns.
