Bitcoin Charges into Q4 with 6.4% Gain, Institutional Demand on the Rise
Bitcoin entered the fourth quarter with renewed momentum after outperforming traditional assets in September. According to Santiment Intelligence, Bitcoin gained 6.4% during the month, surpassing the S&P 500's 0.2% rise and gold's 6.7% decline. The broader crypto market also rebounded, with parts of the altcoin market experiencing growth as capital flowed back into digital assets.
ETF inflows and institutional buying also contributed to the market's strength. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $2.65 billion in net inflows during September, and Strategy added 1,665 BTC to its Bitcoin treasury. The combination of ETF demand and corporate Bitcoin accumulation provided further support for the market.
The macroeconomic backdrop also became more favorable for risk assets at the end of September, with softer-than-expected inflation data pushing Treasury yields lower and reducing market expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike in October. However, the outlook for Bitcoin remains divided, with some analysts predicting a potential bottoming window in late Q4 2026 and others expecting a catalyst-driven rally.
