A dispute has erupted within the Bitcoin community over the handling of BIP110, a proposal intended to restrict certain forms of arbitrary transaction data. Mark 'Murch' Erhardt, a member of the editorial team, has called for Luke Dashjr's removal from the team, citing what he sees as procedural favoritism involving BIP110.

Dashjr has denied the allegations, stating that he consistently followed established BIP procedures and dismissing Murch's claims as false. Murch alleged that Dashjr exercised his editorial authority inconsistently while being closely involved with BIP110, pointing to an attempt to assign a BIP number publicly before mailing list discussion and a later merge completed within minutes of a related pull request opening.

Several contributors have backed the removal request, while others urge clearer procedures before changing Dashjr's editorial access. The current BIP3 process describes the position as administrative and editorial, stating that editors do not decide whether a proposal is likely to gain adoption.
