Bitcoin Community Prepares for Quantum Risk
The Bitcoin community is acknowledging quantum computing as a real security risk, even though current quantum machines cannot break Bitcoin's cryptography. According to VanEck Head of Digital Assets Research Matthew Sigel, the challenge is being taken seriously inside the Bitcoin ecosystem.
Sigel stated that some developers are already testing quantum-resistant signatures on live sidechains. The community understands the scale of the problem and is bringing together technical talent to work on upgrades.
BTC's decentralized governance makes any major security transition slower than in centralized systems, requiring broader coordination among developers, infrastructure providers, and users.
