Bitcoin Correction Risk Rises Amid Increased Profit-Taking
The Bitcoin market is facing increased risk of correction as profit-taking activities reach multi-month highs. The Coinbase Premium Index, which compares Bitcoin prices on Coinbase with global exchanges, has been negative for much of 2026, indicating weaker relative U.S. spot demand.
Realized profits have also reached new highs, measuring gains taken when Bitcoin moves above its previous on-chain cost basis. While this can indicate that profitable holders are selling, the metric alone does not confirm a bear market.
Exchange inflows remain relatively low, suggesting that holders are not broadly depositing Bitcoin onto exchanges. This mixed market setup could pressure prices due to profit-taking and weaker demand, but limited exchange deposits suggest selling has not become widespread.
