Bitcoin Cycle Predicted to Deliver 3-5x Gains Rather Than Another Parabola
CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju said the current Bitcoin (BTC) cycle will likely deliver 3-5x gains, rather than another parabolic run. This prediction is based on the growing size and institutional ownership of BTC, which he believes has dampened both explosive rallies and sharp crashes.
Ju pointed to several supporting signals, including a rising realized cap (indicating fresh capital inflows), OG whales stopping their selling, and futures whales building large long positions near the bottom. He also highlighted that the current cycle's MVRV ratio never dropped below 1, meaning holders stayed above their average cost basis even at the lows.
Ju noted that this means giving up the 10x parabola also means giving up the 80% crash, which in turn invites patient, long-horizon capital rather than hot money. This could be significant for BTC's market structure, as institutional capital and regulated spot ETFs are now major players.
The current cycle's performance is being compared to a similar period in 2012, when Bitcoin saw a rare three-month winning streak from July through September. However, analysts are skeptical that this will repeat, citing changes in the market structure since then. Giottus CEO Vikram Subburaj noted that institutional capital and deep derivatives liquidity now dominate the market, whereas back in 2012 it was driven by a small pool of buyers.
