Bitcoin.de Trading Halt Continues Amid Regulatory Delays
Bitcoin.de, one of Germany's oldest Bitcoin marketplaces, has been in a trading halt since June 12. The operator, Bitcoin Group SE, is rebuilding its platform from a peer-to-peer marketplace to a conventional order-book exchange.
The rebuild involves migrating customer holdings to the new infrastructure and shutting down the old system. This means that while customers can still withdraw their balances, active trading and deposits are suspended until further notice.
On August 20, the operator published a status report, which addressed several concerns and provided more clarity on the situation. The report stated that the technical development of the new platform is complete and has been successfully tested, but the launch is delayed due to regulatory procedures related to MiCAR licensing.
The annual general meeting of Bitcoin Group SE will take place on August 28 in Herford, where shareholders will have the opportunity to ask questions about the trading halt. However, this event does not mark a deadline for customers or a resumption of trading.
