Kraken Recovers from Massive Dust Attack, Restores Affected Accounts

Share

Kraken, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange, has restored accounts affected by a recent 'dust attack' that saw over 12,000 transactions transferred to users' wallets.

The incident occurred on January 4, when hackers exploited a vulnerability in Kraken's system to send small amounts of cryptocurrency to unsuspecting users.

The transfers were designed to trigger an alert, which would have notified the users that their accounts had been compromised. However, the attackers used 'dust' transactions, which are minuscule amounts of cryptocurrency sent to a wallet to evade detection by exchange security systems.
