Bitcoin.de Trading Idle Due to Missing License
Crypto trading on bitcoin.de has been idle since June 30th, 2026 due to missing MiCAR license. Bitcoin Group SE, the parent company behind the platform, reported a revenue drop of 58% in the first half of 2026, attributing it to the lack of trading activity.
The company's CEO, Moritz Eckert, stated that the platform's technology is finished, but the licensing procedure is taking longer than expected. The MiCAR license is required for companies offering crypto-asset services in Germany, and its absence has left the platform unable to operate.
Bitcoin Group SE reported net own crypto holdings of €199 million as of June 30th, 2026, a decline from €356 million at the end of the first half of 2025. The company also reported liquid funds of €3.9 million and an equity ratio of 71.8%.
The platform's new model will be that of a broker, where users trade against the platform's liquidity sources rather than other individuals. This change is expected to affect price formation and fees for users.
