Bitcoin Defies Conventional Wisdom as Treasury Yields Soar
The 10-year Treasury yield has reached its highest level in 24 years, hitting 5.3 percent, while Bitcoin has seen a significant surge of 43 percent in the last quarter. This contrast between traditional and digital assets is striking, with Bitcoin offering no yield compared to the Treasury's record-high rate.
Despite conventional wisdom suggesting that rising Treasury yields should suppress Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency has defied expectations and performed strongly. In fact, its 43 percent increase marks its strongest performance since 2024.
Joe Consorti noted that during the last period of such high Treasury yields, Bitcoin did not exist. This observation highlights the unique dynamics at play in the cryptocurrency market, where traditional factors do not necessarily apply.
