Bitcoin Defies Expectations with Resilient Rebound to $86,000
Bitcoin (BTC) defied market expectations by rebounding from a rate hike and a setback for the CLARITY Act, reclaiming $86,000. The flagship cryptocurrency's resilience was highlighted in a BitGo Research report, which noted that BTC absorbed two bearish catalysts.
According to BitGo Chief Greg Cipolaro, BTC's price action stood out from other assets like gold and equities. While the Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points, BTC dropped but quickly recovered as ETF demand and short covering supported the rally.
The CLARITY Act, which aims to establish a clear federal framework for digital assets, was rejected by the Senate in a 49-59 vote, falling short of the required number. The decision came before the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) raised interest rates.
Despite the bearish developments, BTC rebounded from a low of $74,911 to reclaim $86,000, driven by renewed ETF demand, lower oil prices, declining Treasury yields, and short covering.
