Bitcoin defies historical trend with strong early October performance
Bitcoin is currently trading at $85,855, up 0.75% in the last 24 hours, with a market capitalization of $1.725 trillion. The most notable development is that Bitcoin has successfully navigated its historically weakest three-day stretch in October without the typical decline.
Analyst @coinjuicehq, via CryptoQuant, highlighted that the first three days of October have historically been Bitcoin's weakest, averaging a 0.66% decline. In 2026, Bitcoin not only avoided this decline but posted a 1.86% gain, a significant reversal from the historical trend.
The analysis includes a chart showing Bitcoin's historical average path through October, which typically dips in the first three days before recovering to a +13.37% monthly return. The 2026 line, however, starts flat, dips only marginally, and crosses above the historical average by October 4. The historical equivalent price level entering October is approximately $83,023, but the 2026 reading is $85,132.
A separate CryptoQuant Quicktake by analyst AxelAdlerJr notes that Bitcoin's oscillations around the Power Law trend line have become less pronounced over the past ten years, indicating market maturation. This structural context suggests that Bitcoin does not need a violent October surge to remain on its cycle trajectory.
The outperformance confirms relative strength but does not guarantee the +13.37% historical month-end average. Traders should watch the $83,023 level; a break below would erase the outperformance thesis, while holding above would keep the historical comparison intact.
