Bitcoin Defies Macro Pressures as Leverage Creates Downside Risk
Bitcoin continued to defy macroeconomic pressures by holding above $64,000 on Tuesday, despite rising oil prices and Treasury yields. The asset gained about 1.2% over 24 hours, supported by short liquidations and renewed daily crypto exchange-traded fund inflows.
The growing leverage in the market creates a clear downside risk, with analysts identifying $57,000 as the main liquidation zone for bullish futures positions. This area is particularly concerning because of thin market liquidity, which could deepen any decline if forced selling reaches that level.
According to Joao Wedson, chief executive of Alphractal, '$57,000 is a key region to watch. If Bitcoin trades down into that area, we could see a massive wave of long liquidations.'
