Bitcoin Defies September Curse with Optimistic Metrics

Bitcoin's September weakness has been well-documented from 2017 to 2022, when it posted six consecutive negative returns. However, this trend weakened in recent years, with positive September closes in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

The coming month may not be as bearish as investors expect, thanks to strong spot and ETF demand. Over the last 50 years, the S&P 500 has averaged around -0.8% in September, indicating a historical tendency of U.S stocks to underperform in this period.

Metrics seem to support this optimism, with the Coinbase Premium Index recovering to 0.00 after remaining negative for 14 consecutive days. Additionally, Bitcoin's SOPR highlighted a notable improvement in investor profitability, breaking above 1 towards the end of August.
