The US President Donald Trump has announced plans to impose 50% duties on Canadian vehicles, automotive parts, and steel from January 1, 2027. The news sent shockwaves through global markets, with Bitcoin (BTC) briefly trading near $79,000 before rebounding towards $80,000.

The cryptocurrency recovered despite the renewed trade uncertainty, placing it within reach of the psychological $80,000 level. BTC currently trades around $78,800, up about 2% from earlier levels.

According to a Truth Social post by President Trump, manufacturers are being urged to build inside the United States to avoid the duties. The latest tariffs would cover Canadian cars, trucks, automotive parts, and steel, and would be applied dollar-for-dollar on certain US products from September 8.
