Bitcoin Demand Recovery Hinges on Spot Flip
The demand metric for Bitcoin is showing signs of recovery after plummeting to its lowest point in June 2026, according to CryptoQuant analyst @CW8900. The metric, which tracks the net change in BTC quantity across spot and perpetual futures markets, has been recovering since then, with futures demand already flipping positive.
The key indicator is the spot demand flip, which would mean that on-chain wallets are absorbing more BTC than they are sending to exchanges. This regime shift has historically preceded sustained price appreciation phases, not just short-term bounces.
While futures demand reflects leveraged positioning and reacts faster, the sequence of futures leading and spot following is a consistent order of operations in Bitcoin demand recoveries. The current setup has futures already positive, with spot demand trending toward zero.
