Bitcoin Dips After Rally Amid ETF Strength and Government Transfer
Bitcoin (BTC) experienced a slight decline on October 6, dropping by 0.40% to $85,584.65. The cryptocurrency had previously rallied to a 24-hour high of $86,691.65 but failed to maintain that momentum, sliding back below $86,000. This downturn came despite optimism in the U.S. stock market, where the S&P 500 reached new highs.
Analysts noted that Bitcoin's price has been trading sideways after a strong third-quarter rally. Glassnode reported that U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF holdings are currently valued at about 1.5 times their realized value, yet there are no signs of heavy selling. This suggests a period of consolidation rather than a significant sell-off.
The U.S. government recently transferred 264.863 BTC seized from the Bitfinex hack case to a new address. This transfer highlights ongoing legal developments in the crypto space. Additionally, Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan published an article in The Wall Street Journal titled "Bitcoin Is Right on Schedule," indicating confidence in the cryptocurrency's long-term trajectory.
Looking ahead, historical data suggests Bitcoin could see an 18% to 26% gain over the next 13 weeks, potentially pushing it toward the $100,000 mark. Meanwhile, CFTC Chair Rostin Behnam celebrated the release of new crypto rule proposals by wearing an orange tie, a nod to Satoshi Nakamoto's favorite color.
