Bitcoin Dips as Bond Yields Test Crypto Market Resilience
Bitcoin experienced a slight decline on Tuesday, trading at $85,540.7, a 0.26% drop from the previous session. The pullback came amid rising global bond yields, which reached multi-decade highs in the U.S., Japan, and the UK, putting pressure on risk assets like cryptocurrencies.
The broader crypto market followed Bitcoin's downward trend, with major altcoins such as Ether, XRP, Solana, Cardano, BNB, Dogecoin, and $TRUMP also posting losses. Investors remained focused on the historical trend of crypto strength in October, known as "uptober," and the upcoming launch of tokenized U.S. stock trading services, which were recently approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
On the regulatory front, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) opened a 50-day public comment period on a proposed framework for leveraged digital asset trading for retail investors. The proposal aims to introduce compliance safeguards and deter fraudulent activity, providing some support to the crypto sector amidst macroeconomic pressures.
Despite the recent declines, some market participants noted that sustained bond market stress could weaken the U.S. dollar, potentially renewing interest in alternative assets like Bitcoin and gold. However, elevated bond yields generally reduce the appeal of speculative, high-risk assets, including cryptocurrencies.
