Bitcoin Dominance Rises as Total Crypto Market Value Falls
Bitcoin's market share has increased as its dominance nears 59.46%, while TOTAL2, which tracks the top 125 cryptocurrencies excluding Bitcoin, fell to $1.038 trillion.
The divergence between these two indicators suggests that Bitcoin is outperforming other cryptocurrencies, but it doesn't necessarily mean fresh capital is flowing directly into BTC.
TradingView calculates BTC dominance by dividing Bitcoin's market capitalization by the total value of its top 125 tracked cryptocurrencies. The current support gap for BTC.D lies between 59.35% and 59.40%, with a weekly high near 59.69% as the next resistance level.
A move through 59.69% would extend Bitcoin's relative strength against the broader crypto market, but if TOTAL2 recovers above $1.042 trillion while BTC.D loses its support gap, the relative-strength structure would weaken materially.
