Bitcoin Dominates Top Altcoins Since Peak, Only Nine Outperform

Bitcoin (BTC) has maintained its lead over most of the top 50 altcoins since its peak in October. Only nine of these tokens have surpassed Bitcoin's performance, with Zcash (ZEC) delivering nearly 14.5 times Bitcoin's return.

The comparison measures performance against Bitcoin rather than dollar returns. This means that tokens which lagged behind BTC may still have gained in dollar terms, but shifting capital away from Bitcoin into more risk-on altcoins produced weaker relative results.

Recent market data suggests stronger short-term participation among altcoins, with over 72% of tracked altcoins outperforming BTC over the past week. However, Bitcoin continues to hold a longer-period performance advantage across most of the group.
