Bitcoin Edges Higher as Traders Watch Selective Altcoin Rotation
On July 31, Bitcoin edged higher to $64,145.86, up 0.29%, while Ethereum traded near the $1,900-$1,920 range before briefly dipping below $1,900.
The slight dip in dominance for BTC and ETH suggests traders are watching altcoin rotation, but it's not enough to call a broad altseason just yet.
Bitcoin remains the anchor of the market, with its stability or rise often improving risk appetite. When Bitcoin moves higher, traders may become more comfortable moving into other large-cap altcoins like Ethereum, Solana, XRP, BNB, Chainlink, Sui, and others.
Ethereum's position is a bit more complicated, as it's not just about the price of ETH but also its broader ecosystem. If ETH stabilizes, some traders may look further down the ecosystem stack at Uniswap, Aave, ENS, Layer 2s, liquid staking, and other DeFi or infrastructure names.
The market is becoming more selective, with traders scanning altcoins for relative strength, fresh narratives, and clearer catalysts. This selectivity is a sign of maturity in the market, as traders are no longer just chasing every ticker that moves.
