Bitcoin Enters Critical Bottoming Phase, Analyst Warns of Further Downside
Bitcoin has entered a typical 1-3 month bottoming phase according to prominent analyst PlanB, who notes that July's close at $62,818 was near the critical 200-week moving average of $63,000. This consolidation phase may see further downside testing before establishing a durable base.
The Fear and Greed Index currently stands at 33, indicating Fear sentiment and reflecting market caution. Despite weakness in Bitcoin, which fell 1.14% over the past 7 days to $62,662, Bitcoin ETFs recorded $172.8 million in July net inflows, led by BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT.US) and Grayscale BTC products.
Ethereum (ETH.CC) declined 2.21% over the same period to $1,881, with Grayscale transferring 9,453 ETH worth $18.14 million to Coinbase (COIN.US) Prime, indicating ongoing institutional rebalancing. Notably, BitMine accumulated 18,900 ETH within 10 hours, suggesting selective institutional buying at lower levels.
Analyst PlanB's forecast establishes critical timing expectations for market participants, signaling continued near-term choppiness while creating strategic accumulation windows for patient capital. The 1-3 month horizon also tests leveraged positions' risk management discipline as further downside remains probable before trend reversal confirmation.
