Bitcoin ETF Inflows Surge as Government Policies Favor Risky Assets
After a summer of outflows from Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), capital is flowing back into them. The iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, with ticker IBIT, has seen significant inflows, capturing $693 million in the first week of August and another $503 million on August 20.
The government's recent announcement about increasing buybacks of long-dated government bonds may be contributing to this trend. This move decreased Treasury bond yields, pushing investors toward riskier assets like Bitcoin, which has traditionally benefited from such circumstances.
Bitcoin's price reached nearly $80,000 on August 27, and the market is betting that regulatory changes will be beneficial. The Clarity Act was discussed at a White House summit with crypto industry leaders, but no new regulations have been implemented yet.
Investors who had shorted Bitcoin were forced to buy back in during its resurgence, which added to demand. However, these factors may not stay strong forever and should be taken into account when considering an investment in Bitcoin.
