Bitcoin ETF Inflows Surge as Institutions Buy the Dip
Bitcoin's price has yet to recover from its massive dips early in the year and again in late May, but U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are seeing a renewed interest. In mid-July, these ETFs recorded nearly $1 billion in net inflows over about a week, marking the strongest streak so far this year.
Institutional investors appear to be buying the dip following a poor June, which saw billions in net outflows from spot Bitcoin funds. If investors expect monetary policy to ease and anticipate a growing appetite for risk, crypto assets may be among the first places they turn to.
iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) is the largest and most popular Bitcoin ETF, with $47 billion in managed assets and massive trading volumes. However, its annual fee of 0.25% is higher than some competitors, which could potentially erode gains.
