Bitcoin ETF Inflows Top $1B Amid Derivatives-Fueled Rally
On September 21, Bitcoin ETFs saw nearly $1 billion in inflows as the price of BTC surged above $84,000.
The rally began earlier that day in derivatives trading, where a short squeeze liquidated $262.3 million in bearish positions within an hour.
This move gave the derivatives market a clear lead over ETF demand, which is reported once daily and reflects trades placed during the U.S. cash session.
Despite this, sustained inflows into ETFs can still add buying pressure after a rally has started, as they require market makers to buy spot Bitcoin.
