Bitcoin ETF Purchases Rebound Strengthening Market Demand
Bitcoin ETF purchases are on the rise again after a period of inactivity that lasted through the first half of 2023. This rebound is bringing both institutional and retail investors back into the market, providing a boost to Bitcoin prices. The renewed interest in Bitcoin ETFs comes at a time when the supply of Bitcoin that has remained untouched for at least a year is at its highest level of the year, indicating that long-term holders are holding steady rather than selling.
Matthew Weller, Head of Market Commentary at StoneX Media, noted that the resurgence in ETF purchases marks a shift from the crypto winter phase. The buying activity is accompanied by other supportive signals, such as improving valuation metrics like the MVRV score, which further bolsters Bitcoin's demand.
Long-term holders of Bitcoin are playing a crucial role in shaping the market by keeping a significant amount of the cryptocurrency off the market. This behavior, described by Weller as 'holding on to their Bitcoin,' is seen as a bullish factor for the cryptocurrency. The combination of increased ETF buying and the steadfastness of long-term holders is pushing Bitcoin demand in a positive direction, even as central banks begin raising interest rates and money supply growth slows.
