Bitcoin ETFs Absorb Record $1 Billion in Largest Buying Day Since October 2025
US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) pulled in nearly $1 billion on September 21, their strongest inflow day of 2026. This marks a significant shift from earlier this year when these funds were experiencing outflows. The ETFs recorded $999 million of net inflows, the largest daily total since October 6, 2025, when they attracted about $1.2 billion.
Measuring in Bitcoin, the move was even more pronounced, with the ETFs absorbing about 11,530 BTC, their largest one-day net intake since November 11, 2024, when they added roughly 12,560 BTC. This buying came as Bitcoin surged through $86,000 and briefly traded above $87,000, its highest level since January.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) led the way with $381.4 million in inflows, followed by $289.1 million for ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) and $238.8 million for Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC). These three accounted for more than $909 million of the total.
Bloomberg Intelligence ETF analyst Eric Balchunas pointed out that much of the roughly $1 billion inflow probably reflects trading and creation activity from Friday, given that fund flows are reported with a lag. He noted that investors may respond differently once Bitcoin accelerates through $86,000.
