Bitcoin ETFs Absorb Record-Breaking Inflows Amid Price Surge
Bitcoin ETFs have seen their strongest inflow day of the year, absorbing nearly $1 billion on September 21. This marks a significant increase in investor interest in Bitcoin, with the largest ETFs pulling in substantial amounts.
The three largest products - iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB), and Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) - accounted for over $909 million of the total. IBIT led the way with $381.4 million, followed by ARKB with $289.1 million, and FBTC with $238.8 million.
This influx of capital has been largely driven by Bitcoin's price surge above $86,000, its highest level since January. However, analysts note that the timing of this inflow is somewhat unusual, as fund flows are reported with a lag. As such, it's possible that some of these creations may have actually occurred on Friday.
Bloomberg Intelligence ETF analyst Eric Balchunas pointed out that much of the $1 billion inflow probably reflects trading and creation activity from Friday. He noted that investors should 'look for more tonight,' implying that further disclosures may reveal a stronger correlation between Bitcoin's price action and ETF inflows.
