Bitcoin ETFs Flooded with $189M as Institutional Demand Returns
Bitcoin ETFs saw significant inflows on August 18, with $189 million pouring in as institutional demand for regulated Bitcoin products remains strong. This marks a notable return of capital after recent fluctuations in ETF flows.
The influx is particularly significant given broader uncertainty around crypto markets and macroeconomic conditions. BlackRock's dominance of the ETF market continues to play a key role in this concentration, with its IBIT consistently attracting substantially more assets than smaller competing products.
However, not all funds are faring equally well. Hashdex's DEFI Bitcoin ETF has begun the liquidation process and will cease trading on NYSE Arca before being delisted. The fund cited factors such as low trading liquidity, operating costs, and investor demand for its decision to shut down.
Ethereum ETFs continued their winning streak, with $71.47 million flowing in on August 18, led by BlackRock's ETHA which accounted for $64.68 million of the total. This trend underscores growing institutional interest in Ethereum as investors look beyond Bitcoin for exposure to the broader digital-asset market.
