Bitcoin ETFs May Overtake Gold Funds: Analyst Sees Shift in Investor Sentiment

Analyst Eric Balchunas predicts that Bitcoin ETFs could eventually surpass gold ETFs in assets, citing younger investors and falling volatility as key factors. According to him, gold's lower volatility is currently a major concern for potential BTC investors.

In the long term, Balchunas believes that Bitcoin will become more like gold as a store of value, safe haven asset, or alternative holding, as its correlation with other assets continues to move closer to gold. However, he notes that Bitcoin has historically traded more like the Nasdaq 100, giving it a reputation as a high-beta asset tied closely to stocks.

Balchunas also points out that there is currently more enthusiasm and sales activity around Bitcoin ETFs compared to gold ETFs. Wholesalers familiar with both crypto and older investors are actively educating clients about BTC ETFs, but gold ETFs have relatively little comparable sales activity.
