US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a significant surge on October 21, 2026, with net inflows reaching approximately $525 million. This marked the largest single-day inflow for these funds in nearly a month. The majority of this activity was driven by two major issuers: BlackRock's IBIT, which took in around $235 million, and Fidelity's FBTC, which added roughly $213 million. Together, these two products accounted for about $448 million of the day's total inflows.
The recent three-day stretch has been particularly strong for Bitcoin funds, with combined inflows of around $1.07 billion to $1.08 billion. This buying spree has significantly altered the October picture, flipping cumulative net flows back to positive territory at approximately $460 million. Earlier in the month, Bitcoin ETFs had experienced outflows nearing $910 million over a two-week period.
On the Ethereum side, ETFs had a quieter day, adding roughly $14 million in net inflows. This was enough to snap a five-session run of outflows. Grayscale's ETH staking mini-trust posted a $28 million inflow, and Fidelity's FETH added $13 million. However, other Ethereum funds saw redemptions that offset part of those gains. The five-day outflow streak preceding this session had been costly, with approximately $200 million in redemptions. Ethereum funds remain down about $1.07 billion for October overall.
Despite the significant inflows into Bitcoin ETFs, the price of Bitcoin did not rally. The cryptocurrency traded in a range between $81,500 and $84,800 during the session, with minor price declines noted alongside the inflows. Broader uncertainty and positioning ahead of upcoming economic events, including Federal Reserve meetings, appear to be weighing on price action.
