Bitcoin ETFs See First Outflow in Nine Sessions Amid Regulatory Uncertainty
Bitcoin's recent institutional accumulation wave has paused, but the scale of recent inflows shows that demand through Bitcoin ETFs remains significant. The products recorded about $201.9 million in net outflows on Aug. 28, ending a nine-session streak that had added roughly $3 billion since Aug. 17. Even with the reversal, the full week still closed with approximately $924.5 million in net inflows.
The previous week delivered about $1.92 billion in inflows, marking the largest weekly total of 2026 for Bitcoin ETFs. BlackRock's IBIT frequently captured a large share of daily allocations, accounting for roughly 62% of one $338 million inflow as Bitcoin traded above $80,000.
The regulatory backdrop is less straightforward than the market's bullish tone. The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act passed the House and advanced through the Senate Banking Committee in a 15-9 bipartisan vote, but it has not cleared the full Senate. A procedural vote on Sept. 15 will determine only whether the chamber begins formal debate.
