Strategy Snaps Up $370 Million Worth of Bitcoin in Surprise Move
Strategy, the world's largest Bitcoin treasury firm led by Michael Saylor, has made its first significant Bitcoin purchase in two months. The company acquired 4,603 BTC worth $370 million at an average price of $80,318 per coin. This move comes as a surprise to many, given that Strategy had previously focused on boosting its cash reserves and repurchasing shares.
The acquisition has strengthened Strategy's treasury holdings, bringing its total Bitcoin stash to 845,050 BTC. The company also reported a boost in cash reserves by $29 million and the repurchase of $152 million worth of STRC, its preferred stock. This move has increased its USD reserve to about $5.10 billion and its USD cash to $1.61 billion.
Saylor's decision to buy Bitcoin at an average price of $80,318 per coin has sparked debates among crypto users about whether he is a good or bad trader. Some argue that buying at such a high price indicates poor timing, especially considering Strategy had recently sold BTC at a lower price.
