Bitcoin ETFs See Slight Recovery in Q3, But 2026 Inflows Remain Low
Bitcoin ETFs saw a significant recovery in Q3 2026, with a net inflow of $6.3 billion. However, this influx is largely a recovery from the first-half redemptions, which totaled an estimated $5.4 billion. As a result, the total net inflows for 2026 are only $985 million.
The quarterly inflow was uneven, with September's figure being about 25% below August's. The month ended with a $148.7 million outflow on September 30, which broke a nine-day inflow streak worth about $3.1 billion.
The total net assets of the Bitcoin ETFs stood at $109.3 billion in early October, a 14.6% decline from the $128 billion peak in mid-January. The late-January outflow of $818 million was the worst single day of 2026, and most of the first-half selling occurred outside a seven-week spring run of inflows.
While the inflows may seem promising, the available data does not establish whether investors were rebalancing portfolios or taking profits near the January peak. The issuers have not confirmed either explanation.
