Bitcoin Exchange Reserves Plummet to Multi-Year Low Ahead of $85K Price
Bitcoin exchange reserves have hit a multi-year low of 2.68 million BTC as the price approaches $85,000, according to KuCoin.
This combination of falling reserves and a recovering price is a significant structural story in the Bitcoin market.
The trend of declining reserves has been consistent across multiple price cycles, including the 2024 highs near $73,000, the 2025 run toward $126,000, and the pullback into 2026. During this time, reserves have continued to fall, even as prices fluctuated.
The period from late 2024 into 2025 saw a sharp decline in reserves, from around 3.1 million BTC to 2.9 million, despite a wide consolidation range in the price. This suggests that coins are leaving exchanges at a steady rate, rather than being driven by single price catalysts.
