Bitcoin Eyes $100,000 Target as Institutional Demand Rises
Bitcoin's price has been hovering around $80,000 after a turbulent macroeconomic week. According to Matthew Sigel, Head of Digital Assets Research at investment firm VanEck, this could be a sign that the crypto asset is maturing into a macro hedge for institutional allocators.
Sigel noted that Bitcoin's annualized price volatility has decreased by about 50% compared to four years ago. This suggests that institutions are now playing a more significant role in the market, rather than retail traders.
The current global sovereign debt landscape is also favoring hard-cap assets like Bitcoin. Governments remain over-indebted, forcing fiscal authorities into precarious positions that often lead to an increase in demand for stable and secure assets.
Despite regulatory hurdles and legislative stalemates, the market continues to show resilience. Sigel pointed out that institutions are accumulating Bitcoin on pullbacks, and VanEck anticipates explosive adoption in stablecoins.
