Data from TradingView showed the BTC/USD pair spiking to near $66,000 as markets reacted to the development.
The Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route currently closed due to tensions between the US and Iran, is reportedly being targeted by Tehran and Oman for maritime traffic establishment.
US WTI crude oil fell toward $82 per barrel on Monday before rebounding modestly, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index were both up by around 0.3% at the time of writing.
