Bitcoin Eyes $80,000 as Treasury Buybacks Fuel Price Surge
Bitcoin's price has been on an upward trend, reaching a new high of nearly $79,500 on August 21, after which it corrected downward. The current price is at $77,176. According to TradingKey, this surge was largely due to the U.S. Treasury Department's decision to increase long-term Treasury buybacks, injecting liquidity into risk assets and driving up Bitcoin prices.
However, for Bitcoin to break through the $80,000 mark, new catalysts are needed. Some hope lies in the upcoming vote on the CLARITY Act in mid-September, which could provide a boost to Bitcoin's price. Additionally, the Federal Reserve's FOMC meeting from September 15 to 16 may also have an impact.
Breaking through $80,000 would signify strong risk-on sentiment in the market and lead to capital rotation into major Layer-1 public chains like Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Ripple (XRP). Companies holding substantial Bitcoin reserves, such as MicroStrategy, would also see their unrealized profits increase rapidly.
Looking ahead, if Bitcoin convincingly breaks above $80,000, it will transform the former major resistance zone into a core mid-term support level. This would create an upward vacuum channel free of overhead selling pressure, helping bulls push further toward the next dense concentration of trapped positions between $95,000 and $97,000.
