Bitcoin Eyes $87,500 Reclaim with Institutional Demand on Its Side

Bitcoin's price surge in August has been followed by a rebound of over 23% from its low, but it remains down 8% year-to-date and 28% over twelve months. To reclaim $87,500, Bitcoin needs an 11.4% gain, which is within the coin's normal range.

Institutional demand remains strong, with U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recording nearly $987 million in inflows during the week ending September 4. Corporate buyers are also accumulating BTC, removing coins from active trading supply and tightening the float available to short-term traders.

However, macro conditions remain a major risk factor. A hot CPI report on September 11 or higher interest rates could send Bitcoin back toward $78,000 and delay its recovery. The market is pricing in a 60% chance of a Federal Reserve rate hike this month, which would likely push Bitcoin lower.
