Bitcoin Faces Critical Test as October Deadline Approaches
Macro investor Jordi Visser has set a critical benchmark for Bitcoin, warning that a price below $80,000 by October 31 would signal "a problem." As of now, Bitcoin is trading at $85,896, just 7.4% above Visser's key threshold. In a September 19 episode of The Pomp Podcast, Visser emphasized the importance of Bitcoin maintaining this level, stating that it should continue an upward trajectory once it breaks through key resistance.
Visser's prediction is notable for its specificity, as he provided both a price target and a deadline. He initially saw Bitcoin's rise above $82,000 as confirmation of a bullish trend. However, the cryptocurrency's recent growth has slowed, with only a 2.3% increase over the past week. Currently, Bitcoin is trading about 4.7% above the $82,000 mark, leaving little room for error before October 31.
Despite its recent momentum, Bitcoin remains 31% below its price from a year ago and slightly below its starting price for 2026. Investors who bought Bitcoin in October 2025 are still facing a 32% loss from its all-time high of $126,080. Visser remains optimistic about Bitcoin's long-term prospects, describing it as the only asset he is confident will grow in value over the next 30 years.
As of now, Bitcoin appears poised to stay above $80,000 through October, but the market's unpredictability means nothing is certain. A drop below $82,000 before the deadline could undermine Visser's bullish signal, leaving traders and long-term holders to navigate potential losses.
